It is a beautiful bloomer right now... too bad it is only once a year. Projects going all the time but my latest one is to pull out all the volunteer boston fern (sword fern) from one of my beds. It is a pain around here and given any time it will choke out all the other tropicals. Oh, and finish planting my 400 caladiums bulbs. It's getting really hot and humid down here. Enjoy your spring garden.
MeemsMeemshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16341998120938921741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376606540097525538.post-56108847288634564482011-05-28T00:09:59.650-04:002011-05-28T00:09:59.650-04:00Good job on the trellis. It was a pretty pink, blooms in clusters of 7/9 blooms. After digging it up last yr. it still came back from the roots this yr.
We need rain too. I finished a project that I started 2 yrs ago. I love how it looks with the viburnum beside it.
I hate to coddle roses too but I do that trick with the epsom salts .. scratch a circle around the rose and sprinkle half a cup of it once a month starting in May (I did mine today) and the magnesium fortifies the rose against problems like black spot. You get fantastic flowers too!
My project was today .. get some control over my vines and then rip up the front bed and replant it .. we have at least 3 rain days coming so it was the best time to do it.
I am exhausted though .. My son and Mr. P put together my metal arbor bench this spring, but every time we had a strong wind, it blew over. I finally had to put some rebar in the ground to anchor it. So far it's held up, which is good, because I have plants all around it now. I have a climbing red rose on one side of it, which I hope one day will be as lovely as yours.Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01384059342847120951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376606540097525538.post-80519448945650708292011-05-23T23:32:17.330-04:002011-05-23T23:32:17.330-04:00What a grand trellis you devised!! I love red roses.
Strange, I bought a red climber last year. I bought an obelisk for it to climb hoping it would reach the dogwood and make it's journey through that.
