I didn't see signs of any in the trees they took down but I am afraid it would be only a matter of time before they would have succumbed to the dasterdly beetle. I just love pines too. They were planted fairly close together, maybe 3' and had been topped at about 6'. I wish I'd taken a picture! I would think it would grow quickly and give you some privacy within a couple of years.
