Snow Again

Today we woke to even more snow than we got yesterday. This is what we got on top of yesterdays 5 inches of snow and one inch of ice.
This is the second go round of trying to get our driveway cleared in case we need to get out. We cleared it yesterday and then more snow and ice arrived. There is a State of Emergency called for in our city. You aren't supposed to get out unless you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We don't have 4-wheel drive so we will stay in for the day.
But yes I do get out and help shovel off the drive. As you can see we are only getting down to the ice. It will hopefully melt off with the sun coming out today. I wonder how long the sun will last.
Early this a.m. my DB shoveled out to the bird feeders and chunked away some of the ice so the birds could find some nourishment.
Yesterday Lincoln looked more like a bear.
Today he looks more like a Snowy Owl.Luna was sort of excited about the snow yesterday. With just one layer on the ground she could still get around farily easy.
Today my little Snow Princess looks disgusted with it all. She seems to be saying "Aww Dad do you have to take my picture again. Can we go in now?"
Even the knot garden is looking a little lumpy today. The globe is barely showing. Yes, we had some snow.

  1. I-am-going-to-be-so-disappointed if we don't get a little snow this year, I haven't even seen a flurry!--Randy

  2. Moon really enjoyed his first snow this week, so I kind of enjoyed it with him.

  3. Wowee, that is a lot of snow, and worse is the ice. Want to come visit me in AZ-we could go sketching instead of freezing. :)

That owl turning into a bear is a awesome sight. And Luna is lost again-white on white.

  4. Winter isn't over yet and I guess we'll also have some more snow here. The weatherforecast announces for the coming days still some more. Hope you do not need to shovel every day ;-) !!However, the garden looks nice covered in white!

  5. Lisa, isn't winter wonderful! I kept watching the weather to see what it was doing in your area. I hoped it was mostly snow. You didn't need more ice on your trees. Good idea to stay in and stay warm today.

We had a total of 4-5" here. Not to bad, but S. has been in it from St. Louis to Indy to Cincinnati! Be safe.

  6. Hi LIsa....you certainly have had some snow...aahhh and lovely Luna, fitting in so perfectly with her background.
I do hope you get a little warmth to melt the snow.....ice is so dangerous, do take care......
I love the huge eyes peering out of the snow, that really made me smile...what a feature that has become.......

  8. Oh Lisa,

I can't believe the winter you all are having. I must stop whining about a little cold and rain! Lincoln has morphed...what will be next! Please keep warm and take care of yourself if you got out there...you know, into that ice land!

  9. I must admit I really love the snow - it's just so pretty - we've not seen a flake here this year... perhaps I'd better not talk too soon!! Enjoy it whilst it lasts.... Miranda

  10. Aw crap Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear about your rotten weather. I saw the storm warnings on the national news and wondered if you'd be affected. Snow is OK, but I really hate ice! There's nothing you can do with it either except wait for it to melt.

  11. Holy cow, did you get dumped on! We lucked out this time with only about 1/2" of snow so light & fluffy it looked fake. But there is an upside: after all that shoveling you can afford to indulge in a cookie.

  12. I know you probably hate it by now, but I do wish we could get just a covering.

  13. wow - Lisa, that's an impressive accumulation. Thanks for the pictures - I like to look at it, even though I know it's a lot of work and hassle. Even Luna is tired of it -- I know you are!

  14. I don't want to give the wrong impression gang. I love snow. I just hates the shoveling.

If it doesn't melt before I recover from all the shoveling I will make a snow man or woman or something. I've been thinking about it.

  16. Looks lovely and clean, Lisa. We're getting some new snow tonight although it's supposedly going to get mild and give us ice and rain too. THAT I don't like. Luna makes awesome faces!

  17. Good heavens, that's a lot of snow. Luna blends right in, doesn't she? Make a snow angel for me, Lisa.

  18. Lisa, the roads weren't that great tonight, especially at the intersections.

Lilly would love to play in the snow with Luna!

  20. We have been getting snow off and on in Nebraska. Just when one round of it has melted, more comes. What we have now should be melting the next few days.

I enjoyed looking at your snow pictures. I hope by now your driveway is no longer icy.

  21. Wow! I love the funny face made by Lincoln:)
There must be a lot of work clearing the driveway!!!

  22. Lisa, I think the worst of the storm hit you and southern Illinois. We had 4 inches, but not enough to keep people from going out. I love those pictures of Lincoln--too funny!

  23. It's really nice to see a photo of you, Lisa. Brings things more to life for me;) You do have your share of snow and ice. With our little bit of snow, the driveway froze and my husband let it stay that way. It was so difficult to crack through the ice. In 2 days it melted off the driveway...with a tiny bit of black ice left, so it's not nearly as wintery down here in VA. I used to live in the north (PA, NY, ME, IN, OH) so know what it's like. Sometimes I actually 'miss' it, believe it or not;)

  24. You look pretty cheerful for someone who is shoveling! Good for you; I also envy your ability to get outside and walk in the cold as much as you do. It's hard for me to get motivated to do that in winter.
