Nature's Happenings In the Sky

We were out in the later evening hours this week. A brief thunderstorm blew through leaving a double rainbow in its wake. I didn't have presence of mind to snap the picture until they were about to fade.
The main rainbow stayed a bit longer. Even though I know what makes rainbows the child-like wonder of these beautiful works of art never fails to amaze me.
Not to be outdone the sun put on another show at sunset...
Despite the clouds.

Happy Sky Watch Friday.

  1. Hi Lisa,

I was thinking about you and skywatch the other day...wondering why you did not post on the subject anymore. Did you read my mind??

I am the same....rainbows are fascinating. Poppi still thinks you find a pot of gold at the end of one....bless her.

It is raining today, so hard it is almost deafening....

    Lovely images....have a good weekend

  3. Lisa girl those are BEAUTIFUL pictures of the sky and it's jewelry!
I think of rainbows as earrings and sunset/sunrises as .. hum .. make-up?LOL .. double rainbows are amazing and you got some pictures anyways girl so it is all good !
I miss seeing pretty sunrises .. strangely enough during the summer months there are not many at all .. must have to do with what angle we are to the sun etc ... something scientific no doubt?
Have a great weekend girl !
    Joy : )

  4. Beautiful photos, Lisa! Rainbows never fail to delight me. I'm sure I missed one here the other day--it was pouring down rain, yet the sun was shining.

  7. Hi Lisa ~~ This is especially nice that you caught it. Did you know that others looking at the rainbow at the same time were seeing a different rainbow. Each person sees his/her own made just for that person.

It is also nice that you have a picture even though the bow was fading. Now you know pretty close where to look for the pot of gold at the end.

Living in the river valley, I don't often get to see rainbows!

  10. Lisa, what beautiful photos! You just happen to be in the right place at the right time. I actually saw the end of a rainbow once. It actually ended in my grandmother's front yard. Her door was all different colors. I was driving down the highway and could see it between the front block of houses in her neighborhood. Came as no suprise really that she would be the treasure at the end of the rainbow. :-)
