Shadow Shot Sunday

I was out taking pictures of butterflies in the garden and as usual this one got away but not before I captured its shadow on the leaf where it was resting. You can see the wing of the butterfly in the upper left of the photo.

    I haven't gotten many photos of butterflies this summer at all. I do see the outline on the leaf.

    Did you get any rain this week? We got a nice rain on Wednesday, though I just heard yesterday that climatologists have upgraded our drought to a "severe drought." That sounds pretty bad, but I guess the worst level is "exceptional drought," which is what they're having in Texas. Anyway, we still need more rain.

    Nice technique even if unintentional! I like seeing just the shadow of the departing butterfly.

    We are still in a drought here too Rose. We got a half inch of rain. I have stopped watching the weather channel etc because it is so depressing.

    Lisa girl it has taken me a while to get here .. I have had a bit of a stressful time lately so that means I'm not on here when I am overwhelmed .. having said that, I think you would like this meme because it makes you SEE far more shadows than you ever thought of before and this one is perfect !
    I have seen those mysterious butterfly shadows only to never see the butterfly becuase it left in such a hurry sarn it !

    It's been weird here this year, I've seen hummingbirds more often than butterflies recently. Where are all the butterflies? I'm starting to get worried that they were killed off by the widespread spraying at night for mosquitoes after we had those deluges.

    Thats to story of my life. I get a great shot lined up and by the time the delay is done delaying the subject matter has flown. Big sigh. :) I LOVE your header photo. Who took this? Its excellent.

    I love the words "Shadow Shot". We've had the monarchs here for a few weeks. The only color around here all summer due to the drought. My joy. Terah

    Those butteflies are so difficult to capture! My photos are usually blurred, I like this shadow capture a lot better.

    Sometimes it's good to take picture without the butterfly!

    The shadow seems to be a good reminder to start taking unexpected shot!

    Lisa, let us celebrate the day with unexpected surpirses that we might overlook before!

    Now, look for cocon but not just butterflies....and new discoveries are coming along...yeah!

    Lisa it is good to stop by and catch up.It has been an unusual summer for me adapting to my new location and I have been so absent from blogging.I think I've only had about 3 occasions to take photos..I'm still seeing butterflies in my woodlands and wonder when they will begin their journey to warmer climate..I think the hummers have left as my feeders have been abandoned..sigh..oh well soon I'll be heading out to the desert.Loved the pics of the special wings in your last post!hugs Anna
