Garden Bloggers Bloom Day -July 2017

While looking over the garden today it was clear to me that the most striking things blooming in the garden were the Lilies.  I need more lilies.
Of course they weren't the only things blooming.
Tiger Lily 'Splendens'
They just seemed to be the only flowers to not appear to be too stressed out from the lack of rainfall.
Oriental Lily 'Legend'
Of course I have watered but it just isn't the same.
Rose lily 'Thalita', Honeysuckle 'Scentsations' and Black and blue salvia.
The Rudbeckia even seems a little shorter this year. That tells me that the water situation is not so good.  The bees do appreciate all our watering efforts too.
Rudbeckia 'Tribola'
It is amazing how Hostas keep throwing out those blooms in the dry spell. Lilies in any form just keep on blooming.
Hosta 'Curley Fries'
Skip over to Carol's blog to join in on the Garden Bloggers Bloom Day. Show us what you have now and/or just visit all the people sharing their blooms.

Now the rest of the story of what is blooming here:
Rozanne Geranium
Curley Fries Hosta among others
A few daylilies
Crocosmia 'Lucifer' plus an unnamed orange one
Calla Lily 'Golden Nugget'
Honeysuckle 'Scentsations' and 'Major Wheeler'
Clematis 'Roochi' and Ramona
Tall Garden Phlox
Ice plant
Filipendula 'Kakome'
Strawberry Vanilla Hydrangea
Lime light Hyddrangea
Weigelia 'Red Prince'
Salvia 'Black and Blue', 'Wendy's Wish', 'Mystic Spires Blue'
2 unnamed succulents
and other Annuals

  1. I was thinking the same thing ...more lilies next year ! I thought I'd put some sort of marker where the bulb would be planted , so I didn't end up digging Into anything ?

    1. Excellent idea to put some markers out where you would like some lilies planted. I would probably not be able to find the markers later but would be worth the try.

  2. I also need more Lilies. I love 'Legend', it looks a lot like an Orienpet I have called 'Conca d'Or'. Your Oriental Lilies are blooming much earlier than mine. I can't believe 'Curley Fries' is a Hosta flower - amazing!

    1. I think people forget that hosta flowers can be beautiful as well as fragrant. I have a big hosta that is unnamed and it smells heavenly and has a good sized pure white flower.

  3. Beautiful lilies, as well as your other flowers. That's quite a list of bloomers that you have and I see that we have a few plants in common - crocosmia 'Lucifer,' 'Black and Blue' salvia, 'Major Wheeler' coral honeysuckle, and coneflowers, to name some of them. I enjoyed my visit to your garden today.

    1. Thank you Dorothy. You are welcome here any time.

  4. Love the Lilies!
    Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

  5. You can never have too many lilies. My 'Silk Road' is just about to bloom but did not make it in time for today's post.

    1. I will have to look at Silk Road during my quest for more lilies.

  6. Lovely floral macro shots ~ Beautiful lilies and so colorful ~ love the little critter watching you ~ ^_^

  7. Your lilies are beautiful. Loved seeing your Tiger Lily. It's one of the first lilies I grew (at a previous garden).

  8. So sorry about your lack of rain! It seems like everyone either has too much or too little rain this year. But you have lots of lovely blooms, in spite of the dry weather. I thought the blooms on the hosta 'Curley Fries' was a lily--wow! If you want to add more lilies, you should come up sometime and we'll divide some of mine!

  9. That might be the prettiest hosta flower I've ever seen!
Sorry to hear the rain's been missing you. I hate watching the garden (and gardener) suffer under relentless dry sun....
Must be a generally good lily year since mine are doing great here in PA as well.

  10. Lovely stuff! You can have some of our rain. Now we're hitting a little break in the rain, so maybe more of it will cycle your way. Gotta love those Lilies and Hostas: They keep on going on like clockwork every year, no matter the conditions. Beautiful blooms!

  11. One can never have too many lilies. Hosta'Curly Fries' not only has interesting foliage but the striped flowers are gorgeous! I've had that plant for a couple of years and it has yet to bloom.

  12. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting ~ ^_^ ~ Happy Days to you ^_^

  13. That Curly Fries flower is beautiful and I am one who cuts off most Hosta flowers. I've become a big lily fan; don't know why I never grew many until now. They are fun to watch right up until they bloom.

  14. I don't think I have enough lilies either. Now that I think about it, I don't think I have enough of anything else either. The more I look at other people's blogs, the more I want of everything...except for weeds. I have enough weeds, thank you very much.

  15. My lilies we lovely this year since the rabbits managed to ignore them.

  16. Hope it is cool where you are ~ Rather hot in MA ~ thanks for visiting my blog and commenting ~ ^_^

  17. Thank goodness for lilies. What would summer be without them? I guess the people in NY know. They have lily beetle. Do you have it yet? We don't here, but not that many people grow lilies in Oklahoma. I haven't a clue as to why. I'm sorry you're having drought, and I feel your pain. Hope you get rain soon.

  18. That's a blooming great garden you had for July GBBD, Lisa :-)
