Skiff of snow

What a difference a day makes. We got a dusting of snow and it has turned cold. The poor little crocus are shivering in their bulbs no doubt. It is fun getting outside to see what things look like with a skiff of snow on them. Come around to the back garden with me. We will see if there are any Crocus up back there.
Looks fairly bleak back here. Lets go through the gate. I kind of like the way the gold gazing ball is glowing even though it is cloudy.Yes, It is the only thing in the back garden that is glowing today.Even Luna seems to be drawn to it. I didn't find one little crocus or anything else showing itself back here. I think those crocus out front are totally confused.
I hope you all are warm and cozy. I am gonna get in my chair, cover up with a blankie and read.

  1. Dear Lisa,
The skiff of snow is very pretty.
I love seeing you too. Your hat is very nice is it felted? LOL!
Stay warm. Being cozy with a book is my idea of a fun winter afternoon...

  2. Hi Sherry, No My hat isn't felted. It is actually made of fleece. My friend that is a milliner made it especially for me for when I am birding or outside during winter. It is so warm that I only wear it when it is the coldest of days.

  3. Crocuses?
I'll have to go out and look. Though, last week, I thought my forsythia was thinking about blooming.

  4. Lisa,

Isn't it something how a dusting of snow makes the garden look different and in my case better...I love the the shot of you and Luna in the gazing globe! Gail

  6. Lisa,

I saw you in that gazing ball. I think Luna is doing well, right?

My gardens look dreadful and sad. I think if we had a dusting of snow I'd have some pretty pictures like yours :o)

I have lilies sprouting... One day it's almost 70, the next day 29.

  9. It is very pretty but the hint of things to come is scary. I'll take my sunshine and cool weather.

  10. The dusting of snow was nice, thankfully there was no ice today.

Wrapping up in a blanket and reading a good book sounds like a lovely way to spend the day. Hope you enjoyed it.

  11. I hope the Crocus are waiting patiently beneath to grow back once they thaw. Good luck with that. I planted my Crocus the day before and am excited so!

  12. Lisa, we missed the snow and the ice! This time. :} I read somewhere you are supposed to protect those confused bulbs with extra mulch. But I'm not sure what good that will do with as much winter as we have left.

Your gazing ball is such a bright spot of color even on a gray day. It must give you much pleasure to see it shinning!

  13. Yes, indeed, your gazing ball certainly does stand out on a gray winter's day -- so bright it appears illuminated.

Sleet and freezing rain in December, but no snow here yet.

  14. Mary, yes Luna has responded well to her medicine. We hardly know she has anything wrong with her. The only time I can tell is if we forget to give her a dose of meds then she slows down. Luckily we don't often forget.

  15. Pretty snow pics! I like that gold ball, too. I don't take the time to read books these days. I plan to, but haven't lately.

Your garden area looks really nice. I'll bet it's delightful in full color! And Luna is beautiful :)

  18. Oh Lisa, I feel so bad for your poor little crocus. They're in for a big shock later this week!
