I am not certain but I think we can attribute the spread of this disease, at least in my garden, by the unassuming bunny that parks its self on the bench on my front porch. I am keeping a keen eye on him. I would love to actually see him in the act of spreading these ova in the garden. Are you having the same trouble in your garden? Be sure to read Nan's post for full details.

Common Spring Disease - Ova Paschalis
Nan over at Hayfield has an excellent post here about this seemingly common disease that has popped up again this spring. I am sure if you look around your neighborhood at this time of year you will see signs of this malady. As you can see we have a small infestation here in the pots on our front porch. You can see the colorful egg-like spores in our flower pots.

All I can say it is difficult to deal with change. This new Blogger format is not as user friendly in my opinion. I guess I will get us...

ReplyDeleteIt does cause colorful large spots that may be too disfiguring to the plants for some gredeners! gail
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cheerful Easter display. I wouldn't change a thing for another week!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful disease and I wish some bunny had spread it here. Or perhaps he did and the dog stole the evidence.

Good heavens - it affects container plantings too? It's more serious than I thought. Thank you for contributing this photographic evidence of yet another infective type. Perhaps we should name it Ova paschalis var. greenbowensis?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!!!! !I seem to have this colorful illness too.
ReplyDeleteOh! I have some of that OVA here!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous...and the crabapple blooms against the blue sky!! Lovely!! ...your blog is a breath of springtime Lisa!
Love your spring flower display-even with the Ova Paschalis. And of course the bunny is just too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love all your spring flowers, Lisa! I haven't noticed any infestations here, but Sophie did manage to find one ova spora in the yard. I'm still trying to figure that one out--it's got me actually believing in the Easter Bunny!
ReplyDeleteI would not mind that disease in my pots. Do you really have live plants blooming now. oh how I long for warmer days.
ReplyDeleteNow what have those waskely wabbits been up to? Spreading the dreaded ova paschalis, eh?
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll have it all cleaned up soon. Perhaps some little kiddies would be glad to help out :)
I hope you had a wonderful Easter, Lisa, in spite of the pesky wabbits.
Wow, you're Spring flowers are such a riot! The spores make it worse! :P Hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteVery cheery ova paschalis you have, my dear. Funny I find them (the plastic ones) in my garden throughout the year... never fails a few get left behind. Glad your Easter was great.

Priceless. Some of my potted plants have it too.
ReplyDeleteCute! Wish this disease had reached my garden too.
ReplyDeleteLisa, here's a funny thing... we saw that Ova paschalis all over the place in Illinois, but have seldom run across it here in Austin. There must be a logical explanation as to why!
ReplyDeleteHope no one ate the ears off your chocolate bunny ;-]

Tee hee hee Lisa... looks like he was busy in your yard. :c)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute post! No sign of the disease in our garden this year. :-(
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa
ReplyDeleteHmm... interesting posting here. I haven't heard of this myself. I think our old cherry tree may have been diseased, which is why we had it taken down.
It does not look like too onerous of a disease ... looks like it may even lead to gales of giggles instead of wails of pain.
ReplyDeleteThat was very cute. It seems we had the same problem here and we set about collecting them to try and stop the spread. Strange how it happens every year at this time.
ReplyDeleteI don't trust that rabbit, it looks like he's up to something!
ReplyDeleteI love that! Thanks for making me smile.
ReplyDeleteI love nature.......
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa.....how strange we have that here.......Poppi and Riley appear to have sorted it out though.......perhaps you should have them at your place next year!!!
