I got this bright idea to use some old golf clubs that have been sitting around in the garage for 15 years. The perfect way to recycle. I cut the handles off.
Then I pushed the club heads down into the ground. I even used the handles.
They work perfectly, didn't cost a thing and they look just fine tucked into the planting edges. I dare say they will be a conversation starter at some time.
From a distance you can't see most of them. When the ground is a little softer from all the rain I will push them down further. I am quite pleased with the way they worked out.
So if you find some retired golf clubs and you need a hose guide this will be a perfect solution. I asked my Dearly Beloved if he wants a new set of golf clubs. He wondered why I would ask such a thing but I need a few more hose guides. Maybe you just need a new driver...and wasn't it the putter that was giving you trouble the last time ????
Lisa, what fun! A perfect way to recycle and have something useful at the same time. If you really want more-try a few garage sales. I know I have seen them up here and usually pretty cheap. Thanks for the hint and for the smile.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you got them in the ground that far! I would have hit hard clay three inches down. You must have some mighty loamy soil.
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteThat was just an ingenious idea! I’m constantly dragging mulch out of the beds with the leaf blower when I’m cleaning off the patios. I could use this idea for the extension cord. Smart thinking!
What a good idea Lisa. I'm always a little afraid of stakes in the garden but these are so blunt they wouldn't hurt anyone if they fell on it.

LOL, Lisa, what a clever idea--it's sure to be a consveration started in your garden:) I'm not a golfer, but from what I've seen of some golfers, you might find a few more broken clubs on a golfcourse.
ReplyDeleteI too am tired of the cheap hose guides but too cheap to spend real money on nicer ones--what a great idea with the golf clubs. I don't have any of those myself, but I'm inspired to look around my shed and basement and see what I could use instead...
ReplyDeleteYard sales are a good idea Beckie. I hadn't thought of that.
ReplyDeleteI am glad this is giving some of you a good idea.
This is a great idea — and, as you say, a conversation starter! I love it and I bet it feels great to get them out of the garage and dealt with in a useful way.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea, Lisa!! I love using items for a new purpose. Some magazine even has this as a column. Anyhow, I love the look.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. It looks great. Now all you need is a gazing globe done up as a golf ball.
ReplyDeleteLisa.....I like this, I like it a lot....
ReplyDeleteIt brings a smile and recycling is top of my list....great idea, you may have started something here.....
Great idea! You know how to make things like this fun.
ReplyDeleteVery functional, and they add a bit of whimsy to the garden, as well.
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteYou scored "under par" with that idea!
Now I want to know what you are planning to do with the "spare" parts left from the handles :-)
ps..have not turned the hose on once this year! It remains in the basement!
Excellent idea Lisa....we shall soon see them all over the internet! gail
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea! I'm always a fan of recycling, and when it looks great, too, that's the icing on the cake. Too fun. :)

ReplyDeleteDear Lisa, I'm catching up visiting blogs and it's a good sign when I start it with a smile on my face. And I really had to smile when seeing the clubs and the driver in your garden. That's a wise way of recycling :-). I wonder what my husband would say if I took his old clubs ;-) !
