They were right this time. My Dearly Beloved and I spent the morning outside making way in case we needed to get out for something.
I realize that today is Presidents Day and the post won't be running but tomorrow the postman will thank me for shoveling a path to the mailbox.Inside things are looking a bit better as far as blooms go. Thank goodness yesterday was Valentines day and my Dearly Beloved gifted me with a lovely bouquet of flowers. They are so cheerful in this cold white world we are in now.
I couldn't resist pulling out the one big rose in the bunch. Can you smell it? It has a hearty fragrance for such a pale looking rose. My only other inside bloom is one lonely little abutilon that just opened a couple of days ago. I am grateful for even this one bloom. Happy Garden Bloggers Bloom Day to you all. I hope the sun is shining and plants are blooming in your part of the world.
Lisa, I'm glad it was fragrant. I am so disappointed in cut roses which have no scent. As to your snow, I'll just say "I'm sorry." We had some too yesterday, but it melted. We're up to 28F so far today, and I must get outdoors before I scream. Happy Bloom Day.~~Dee
ReplyDeleteSnowdrops! I'm so glad you "cheated" and took their photo so we could see them, Lisa... they're so cute.
ReplyDeleteBut, really, it's not cheating. (They ARE blooming today, right? Just hidden from view under all that snow, that's all!) :)
Your Valentine bouquet was lovely.
ReplyDeleteFebruary is so fickle. Everything that was blooming in sunshine yesterday is enjoying a shower here today, but still in bloom.
I gave away my forced hyacinths after I made pics so that someone else could enjoy their fragrance.
Your winter bulbs are ahead of mine. Lucky you. Enjoying looking over your blogs. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to have snowdrops, even if they are buried again! Maybe I'll be as lucky by March 15th; I am getting pretty tired of all this snow and cold temps.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty bouquet!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your snow today and hope it disappears by tomorrow.
Marnie
Real, honest-to-goodness flowers! Good for you, Lisa! Thanks so much for sharing them and your beautiful bouquet too.
ReplyDeleteHi, Lisa;
ReplyDeleteLoved the little snowdrops and that big rose is wonderful. Amazing, isn't it? How a pretty flower indoors can improve our outlook on the worst of winter days.. Happy GBBD! And, thank you for visiting my blog. :)
aloha lisa,
ReplyDeletewow, what a cold celebration for bloom day...even a little color for today is nice to see indoors. I enjoyed reading your beautiful post today:)
The blooms are beautiful, but that hat is the WOW factor! You are styling as your clearing the snow! Have a great day~ gail
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bouquet and to get a scented rose yet! Mmmmm.
ReplyDeleteGood thing you took that photo yesterday. Doesn't look like nice snow either! Always good to shovel out ... just in case. Nothing blooming up here yet ... in spite of our mild weather. Our yard still has a coating of snow.
Hi Lisa.....more snow......you did well to clear a pathway. I spent a morning last Thursday clearing the paths to the house.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like such a long winter, doesn't it?
Lovely flowers for Valentines Day. The rose is just perfect...the fragrance a bonus. Sometimes I have been disappointed with roses when they fail to have a perfume. They most certainly will give you a lot of pleasure during these cold days......
Have a good week.....
Such a beautiful pink rose, Lisa--I agree it deserves a vase all its own. Like you, my indoor blooms are at a minimum. But those snowdrops do show promise--winter can't last forever!
ReplyDeleteLisa, love the snow drops-maybe spring is on the way. But I have 2 feet of snow drifts over my daffodils and tulips and I wonder if anything is going on under there. I love the rose, such a delicate color. Are you tired of shoveling snow yet?? :)
ReplyDeleteThose little snowdrops are working so hard! Hope you can see them soon.
ReplyDeleteSnowdrops and snow- what perfect combination. What a lovely bouquet of flowers. Isn't valentines day wonderful? Happy bloom day.
ReplyDeleteLisa- HCM and hope you had a wonderful V day too! Yay for snow, and the roses are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet hubby you have. That bouquet is beautiful and brings spring to you.
ReplyDeleteDear Lisa,
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty bouquet! I love having flowers inside. I "need" them! The rose is lovely!
You did have lots of snow! We received a few squalls but not too much accumilation.
I am reading and reading and staying warm! Hope you are too.
Sherry
So glad you took the photo of the snowdrops yesterday - it's just perfect to see their nodding heads just above the ground with snow around them. Hope your snow melts quickly so spring can come!
ReplyDeleteLove those snowdrops, Lisa -- they are just precious. Stay warm - Happy GBBD!
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloom Day Lisa, shame you can’t see much of your garden right now. Lucky snowdrop shot there though… very nice :-D
ReplyDeleteYes, I guess after the colour and scent of your roses you’ll be virtual bloom browsing for the moment. Pity there’s no virtual scent ;-)
The snowdrops are the stars of bloom day! Yours are so sweet, and I like to think of them cozy under the snow now. I'm putting in a whole swath in the Fall, to enjoy right outside my front window. Can't wait for next winter (um maybe not ....)
ReplyDeleteThe snow has come this way thank you very much and nothing is blooming here except hope. Hope for spring that is. Love your snowdrops and the smell of the rose is lingering here.
ReplyDeleteMy snowdrops are buried under and not even thinking of sprouting, let alone blooming. I also shovel a path for the mail jeep, along my street.
ReplyDeleteSnowdrops aren't cheating. They're still blooming under there, somewhere. I haven't seen mine recently, but I'm assuming they're also blooming, out there....somewhere...
ReplyDeleteYour little snowdrops are a welcome sight to my winter weary eyes. Lucky you...even if they are buried under snow today.
ReplyDeleteWe won't see ours for a while yet.
What a dear romantic hubby you have :) That's a beautiful bouquet to gladden your heart.
It's amazing to find a rose with fragrance in a store bought bouquet. I'm always so disappointed when there's no sweet smell. A rose is not quite "real" without that lovely scent.
Happy Bloom Day, Lisa!
It spit snow here all day yesterday, but thankfully, there was no accumulation. My daffodils are rearing their heads in my mailbox bed and I keep telling them to just hold tight! Beautiful bouquet there!
ReplyDeleteThat rose is gorgeous, Lisa! And there are your snowdrops. I can't even see mine. I assume they're under the snow drift somewhere. Maybe by the time it melts away, they'll be up! Well, I guess you can't see yours right now either. LOL
ReplyDeleteHey Lisa girl ! I loved seeing those snow drop flowers : )
ReplyDeleteSpring has to start getting serious some time right ? .. so we just have to hold on a little longer ...
I swear .. I almost smelled that rose you pulled .. it is the colour of my Angel Face rose and now I'll be thinking of her all the time : )
What a lovely bouquet. The snowdrops are looking so cute.
ReplyDeleteYour abutilon is a joy, Lisa. Glad to see that snow will not prevail. :-) And what beautiful flowers you were given! I could almost smell the lovely roses from here. Thanks for sharing the photos. I'm glad your Happy Valentine's Day led to such a Happy Bloom Day as well. ~Dawn
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post Lisa. I haven't looked at this blog of yours before. It's super. Beautiful pink rose. Is that you with the hat on? You look lovely and I bet the postman was glad you'd cleared the drive.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, I don't consider taking a photo early cheating. We have to go with the weather forecasts and good thing you did! Thanks for showing those snowdrops, we are struggling to get them going here, and have three, yes three plants. Last year we only had one so we are making progress. The flowers and giant fragrant rose are a great gift. Good job, DB! :-)
ReplyDeleteFrances
As you know, we are still having snow. And wind. And I missed Bloom Day altogether. Grrrrrr. I love your bouquet - and especially the fragrant rose.
ReplyDeleteMore Snow? Yikes Lisa, I hope your little snowdrops can take such punishment.
ReplyDeleteI think you had a great idea to take your snowdrops photo the day before! And your rose, it definitely deserved it's own showcasing;-) We certainly could have used your snowblower recently, as the plows left huge banks in front of the driveways...probably 4-5 ft high and only 1 side of the road was plowed (the opposite side from us) so we had to wade through to get out to the driveable side. Lots of shoveling!
ReplyDeleteLisa you certainly have much more snow that we! A lovely bouquet of flowers to bring Joy to you and warm your heart as we wait for Spring!
ReplyDeleteNice shot of the snowdrops -- and your rose is beautiful. Although freezing weather is in our forecast again, we've been seeing lots of signs of spring down this direction. There is hope.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have the snowdrops in your garden ...we will have to be a bit more patient here although today is lovely and warm and most of the snow has melted away.
ReplyDeleteI love the first photo.
ReplyDeleteBack again to enjoy. The flowers are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAs long as there are snowdrops,if i am from your climate i will always be happy to wait for spring! While you are still in that hibernation atmosphere, please visit my everlasting blooms, as in whole year-round blooms because i am from the tropics. Snow is alien to us!
ReplyDeleteSnowdrop blossoms are always such a welcoming sight..a promise of sorts! ...soon the parade of blossoms will begin ! I know you are enjoying the show!
ReplyDeleteYour sleeping snowdrops are still beautiful, Lisa. Your scented Valentine roses also reminded me that I used to get more florist flowers when we lived in Illinois!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's harder for Philo to think they're important down here where the ground isn't covered and there are usually a few garden flowers?
Happy March!
Annie at the Transplantable Rose
Hi Lisa! Thanks for stopping by. i love your photos of flowers and snow, they are all so pretty.
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to clarify- pastels dont go in the freezer, but it's a great way to keep oil paint from drying (saving palette paint)
Hello Lisa, such inspiring and beautiful blooms.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, we have blooms all year long here:)
I've really enjoyed your blog. Stop by my site to see the Cornucopia of Awards.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms and captures!
