Garden Bloggers Bloom Day is a meme started by
Carol at May Dreams Gardens. You can pop over there to see blooms from all over the world. If you are like me and live were winters throw snow at you you will really appreciate everyone elses blooms. I did a little cheating by taking the following photo of my little patch of snowdrops yesterday since the weather people predicted more snow.
They were right this time. My Dearly Beloved and I spent the morning outside making way in case we needed to get out for something.
I realize that today is Presidents Day and the post won't be running but tomorrow the postman will thank me for shoveling a path to the mailbox.
Inside things are looking a bit better as far as blooms go. Thank goodness yesterday was Valentines day and my Dearly Beloved gifted me with a lovely bouquet of flowers. They are so cheerful in this cold white world we are in now.
I couldn't resist pulling out the one big rose in the bunch. Can you smell it? It has a hearty fragrance for such a pale looking rose.
My only other inside bloom is one lonely little abutilon that just opened a couple of days ago. I am grateful for even this one bloom. Happy Garden Bloggers Bloom Day to you all. I hope the sun is shining and plants are blooming in your part of the world.
Lisa, I'm glad it was fragrant. I am so disappointed in cut roses which have no scent. As to your snow, I'll just say "I'm sorry." We had some too yesterday, but it melted. We're up to 28F so far today, and I must get outdoors before I scream. Happy Bloom Day.~~Dee

ReplyDeleteFebruary is so fickle. Everything that was blooming in sunshine yesterday is enjoying a shower here today, but still in bloom.
I gave away my forced hyacinths after I made pics so that someone else could enjoy their fragrance.

ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to have snowdrops, even if they are buried again! Maybe I'll be as lucky by March 15th; I am getting pretty tired of all this snow and cold temps.

Lovely flowers for Valentines Day. The rose is just perfect...the fragrance a bonus. Sometimes I have been disappointed with roses when they fail to have a perfume. They most certainly will give you a lot of pleasure during these cold days......

Such a beautiful pink rose, Lisa--I agree it deserves a vase all its own. Like you, my indoor blooms are at a minimum. But those snowdrops do show promise--winter can't last forever!
ReplyDeleteLisa, love the snow drops-maybe spring is on the way. But I have 2 feet of snow drifts over my daffodils and tulips and I wonder if anything is going on under there. I love the rose, such a delicate color. Are you tired of shoveling snow yet?? :)

The snowdrops are the stars of bloom day! Yours are so sweet, and I like to think of them cozy under the snow now. I'm putting in a whole swath in the Fall, to enjoy right outside my front window. Can't wait for next winter (um maybe not ....)

ReplyDeleteMy snowdrops are buried under and not even thinking of sprouting, let alone blooming. I also shovel a path for the mail jeep, along my street.

It's amazing to find a rose with fragrance in a store bought bouquet. I'm always so disappointed when there's no sweet smell. A rose is not quite "real" without that lovely scent.

It spit snow here all day yesterday, but thankfully, there was no accumulation. My daffodils are rearing their heads in my mailbox bed and I keep telling them to just hold tight! Beautiful bouquet there!

ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, I don't consider taking a photo early cheating. We have to go with the weather forecasts and good thing you did! Thanks for showing those snowdrops, we are struggling to get them going here, and have three, yes three plants. Last year we only had one so we are making progress. The flowers and giant fragrant rose are a great gift. Good job, DB! :-)

ReplyDeleteI think you had a great idea to take your snowdrops photo the day before! And your rose, it definitely deserved it's own showcasing;-) We certainly could have used your snowblower recently, as the plows left huge banks in front of the driveways...probably 4-5 ft high and only 1 side of the road was plowed (the opposite side from us) so we had to wade through to get out to the driveable side. Lots of shoveling!

ReplyDeleteAs long as there are snowdrops,if i am from your climate i will always be happy to wait for spring! While you are still in that hibernation atmosphere, please visit my everlasting blooms, as in whole year-round blooms because i am from the tropics. Snow is alien to us!
