I enjoy this Garden Bloggers Bloom Day the most because it is the anniversary of the first blog post I ever made. That was three years ago. Carol who hosts Garden Bloggers Bloom Day here was most encouraging to me to start a blog. I thank Carol for this encouragement because blogging has certainly imporved my gardening skills. Learning from generous encouraging garden bloggers in the world. I do mean all over the world.
The blooms I had here three years ago are mostly the same this year with a few additions.Such as this beautiful new variety of hydrangea that was gifted to me by Cheryl another blogger I was fortunate enough to meet this summer. This hydrangea is an ever bloomer named Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea paniculata 'Renhy'. I am impressed by its will to live and bloom in this drought. Of course I am keeping it watered since it just arrived here.
One of my succulent pots has had a bloom on it for a couple of months. Unfortunately I cut the bloom part off in this photo trying to get a picture of the mums at its feet. The blooms on the succulent isn't too showy but it is a bloom.
Another mum that has been in this spot for several years. I like it little button shape and the yellow center. I have no idea what variety it is. All I know is that it must be hardy growing here where it gets little to no extra water.
Of course making a big splash over the fence this time of year is the white anemone. It is such a stalwart plant. It held its buds stubbornly until I decided to give it some water then it opened to say thank you and please don't forget me later when you water again.
Since blogger won't let me upload more photos I will just say that I have Toad lilies blooming and a few annuals as well. Happy Garden Bloggers Bloom Day.
Congrats on three years of blogging! Quite an achievement and I know it's been rewarding.... for you, for your garden, and for your readers!
ReplyDeleteBlooms or no... I am DROOLING over that gorgeous succulent container! Where are you planning to overwinter it?
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogaversary, Lisa! And also a big thank-you to you, since yours was the first blog I read and the one that inspired me to start blogging as well. It's been such a wonderful experience, and I've learned so much about gardening from other bloggers as well, not to mention the friends I've made and met, such as you, Lisa.
ReplyDeleteI love your anemone! And I think your new hydrangea looks better than mine--I've been trying to be faithful in watering it, but they do like a long drink every day. The skies have been cloudy here all day, and I stopped raking leaves when it began sprinkling--but that's all it did...sprinkle. Darn! Back to watering...
Tres jealous of that white anemome - she won't go for me here. Beautiful shots of sweet bloomers - happy Blogaversary :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on three years blogging, Lisa :-D
ReplyDeleteI've thouroughly enjoyed our exchanges in that time. Many thanks for the comments you have left on my blog too :-D
I love your anemones but like Kim... I love that container too!
Happy GBBD and all the best for a new year in Blogland :-)
Happy three years of blogging, Lisa! Your blog is such a beautiful place to visit, and I am always so interested in the differences and similarities in our climates. Flowers now! Unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous. Your garden is a dream.
ReplyDeleteAll so pretty, Lisa! I really love the look of the White Anemone! So sweet and innocent!
ReplyDeleteLisa, happy blogaversary! I am so glad to have made your blogging acquaintance and then having the great pleasure of meeting you in Chicago! Although, my anemones are still alive they decided not to bloom and are holding out till next year! We hope for rain for you and for our gardens in TN! Isn't blogger a stinker sometimes! gail
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 3 years. That is fantastic. Love your pictures, you have a great blog!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogiversary Lisa! I love seeing all your beautiful blooming things, even if I am not half the gardener you are!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, congrats on three years of blogging! I am happy to see that you have blooms despite the lack of rain. That is a beautiful hydrangea, and hooray for mums that come back even when they aren't supposed to be hardy. Sometimes they fool us. :-)
ReplyDeleteFrances
Thank you to all of you for the congrats on my blogging. It has been a fun ride getting to know you all.
ReplyDeleteKim, I will bring the succulents in to my dining room. They will get spindly during winter since it is a NE facing window but will survive...I hope.
Rose I have only been watering the new hydrangea twice per week. I give it a really deep watering though. It has been working. Since I took this photo I cut off all but two of the blooms. I don't want the plant to work on making blooms but to get its roots going.
You are rich with color this bloom day. I will add my congratulations to you on your third anniversary. The world is a better place due to the sharing of garden bloggers.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary Lisa! What a beautiful selection of blooms to celebrate with this week. I left a response to your CM comment. Have a good week!--Randy
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 3-year blogiversary, Lisa! And I love your succulent planter--very pretty.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogaversary, Lisa! I'm looking forward to another year of beautiful blooms like these.
ReplyDelete3 years already? It is such a pleasure to follow your blog that I did not see the time goes by.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogaversary
Happy blogaversary! I'm so glad you decided to start blogging: I always enjoy your posts, and I really enjoyed meeting (& having a drink) with you.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue of your Hydrangeas. My Anemones aren't too happy with me about the water situation. Why won't it rain?
With three years of blogging, you can really see the progression of the seasons and the rhythm of your garden. Your white anemone is a such a clear colour for this time of year, very fresh looking.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 3 years of blogging.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how many wonderful friends I have made through my blog...I am happy I met you in blog-land!
Time has gone by so fast.
Always enjoy seeing what is in bloom in your gardens. The hydrangea is so pretty.
A lovely gift...
Sherry
Happy third blogaversery Lisa! It's good to see that you have so many blooms for this bloom day. We have many of them in common although my toadlilies have done a disappearing act, I'm sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteHey Lisa girl happy blogaversary !
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how to come close to spelling that one right, haha
I used to have a white anemone but it disappeared a while back .. but .. you have made me want it again with that picture .. all your plants are looking VERY nice even after that drought you had to get by with.
Fingers crossed for a better season next year !!
Joy : )
Firstly, my congrats to you Lisa.
ReplyDeleteThree years of blogging is indeed a great achievement. Don't know whether I get there?
Love seeing the beautiful flowers, simply stealing my heart...
What is that tall succulent that you cut the bloom off of? It's gorgeous! You have Toad Lilies! I can't wait to see those...I had one a few years back and managed to kill it...I'll find another one and try again, I'm stubborn like that!
ReplyDeleteCould your pink mum possibly be 'Sweet Peg'? I'm sending you the link to the Fine Gardening online piece. The photo of it is about three paragraphs down. http://www.finegardening.com/plants/articles/not-your-average-mums.aspx
ReplyDeleteHappy bloom day and happy blogoversary. I know you've benefited my life as well my friend.~~Dee

A fabulous bouquet of blooms, Lisa. It's amazing how much there still is blooming in October for everyone, it seems. It's great...let's not talk about November, though.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your blogiverary, Lisa! You are a definite asset to the gardening world and we appreciate you being in it and sharing your knowledge of not only gardening, but your birding adventures on occasion!
ReplyDeleteLovely blooms! My Soil Sister Jan had told me about Strawberry Vanilla hydrangea and just loves it. I might have to add that one to the hydrangea collection here! Anything that survives this drought is a winner!
Thank you for stopping by, friend.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blogging anniversary, dear Lisa! Already three years have passed...how time runs! Many thanks to you too as you are a very faithful reader of my blog since then and I always enjoy and appreciate your kind comments.
