Excuse Me...

Excuse while I gloat, no maybe I should say float. We are getting a much needed rain. I am sitting here in my office watching the water run between our house and the neighbors house.
I haven't seen this all summer. You can see that the neighbors small tree didn't make it through the drought. Neither did the hostas under our Pansy Redbud.
With water collecting in the paths
and all getting some much needed rain plants will be able to recover and survive the winter.
I won't have to fill the water feature as I have had to do every day. The poor birds and other critters haven't had puddles to bathe in. Today and tomorrow they will have fresh rain water to luxuriate in.
We have over an inch in the gauge. Can't wait to see what we end up with. Such excitement!! I won't get anything accomplished until it stops raining. The air feels so fresh and clean.

  1. So happy for you. Rain is predicted here today, but so much of the time it doesn't happen or we get a dribble. But we are not nearly as dry as you've been. Hope it all soaks in and not too much runs off.

    1. My garden would melt in a 2 year drought. We have been in a deficit for some time. UGH..

  4. Oh, that's wonderful, Lisa! You might be surprised with those Hostas--mine went dormant in the summer of 2012, but they came back the next growing season. Sounds like your neighbors' tree, however, might be a casualty. Isn't that an amazing feeling to have a good soaking after going without for so long?! Yay!

    1. Oh yes Beth, I am so happy with this rain. It lifted my spirits higher than the grass stretched after this rain.

  5. Congratulations, Lisa!! Here's hoping your rainfall refreshed all your ailing plants and they all look healthy again :-) The colours of refreshed green foliage is just so uplifting more so than a beautiful open flower I'd say :-) Enjoy your garden window views with raindrops falling - says me in Scotland on a dreich, damp day desperate to find time to go out with my camera to capture the colours of Autumn. It's been nice catching up with your blogs today :-)

  9. Lisa, glad you got heavy rain finally. Maybe it's a part of our rainfall, isn't it? We're tired of the water nearly every day.
