Yesterday a couple of friends stopped by to see the garden. As they were leaving I noticed all the bird poo on the gate. I decided it was time to clean it off as there was a big clump on top of the gate.
Imagine my surprise when the big clump opened it's eyes to check out who was bothering it. A sweet little tree frog was napping there on the gate. I have more often heard these creatures calling in the night. Rarely seen here. They blend in perfectly with tree bark.
I went out at dusk to see if it was still there. Sure enough there it was curled up on the gate. I wonder where it went and when it decided it was safe to move about.
Have you had any unusual visitors in your garden?
Normaal zijn ze toch groen ? Hij ziet er inderdaad net als boomschors uit

Yes, they can change their color.
DeleteI bet he likes the warmth of the metal gate!
ReplyDeleteYou are probably right Kris.
DeleteWhat a lovely little creature to find. A happy surprise.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was happy to find it.
DeleteHello again, Lisa :-) Wow, what a surprise find especially as they are rare with you. I've had quite a few garden surprises here with a heron walking into my pond one morning and a young fox entering hedgehog feeding station when a hedgehog already inside. Both got quite the fright!
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear from you Shirley. I bet you were excited to see that young fox. Would they eat a hedgehog? Seems like it would be awfully prickly for a fox to handle, especially a young fox.
DeleteWell, I don't know about being excited Lisa it was quite the fright. The audio on the camera got a workout! I finally got these hang of new video editing software and uploaded the encounter. I think you'll find it interesting viewing - I put it in a blog post. (Btw I've moved to wordpress but you should find me ok).
DeleteAh Lisa what a cute little fellow. I think ours tend to be green here. Although I have seen this coloured type as well. Maybe they change appearance as not where they are. The been one I almost missed because he was on one of my host a leaves. Thanks for making me smile today. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYep, I think they can change coloring as they need to blend in. Pleased to be able to make you smile.
DeleteHa! Smart little creature! I probably would have jumped, but I would have been pleased, too, to find it. I once pulled a pot out of the ground (I had overwintered it there) and found a toad. Smart, smart critters!
ReplyDeleteThey are smart and cute.:)
DeleteWhat a sweet little surprise! I love your gate too.
ReplyDeleteI came face to face with hummingbird today. It really didn't want to leave that columbine that was hanging over my path.
I like these kind of surprises in the garden. I also like seeing hummingbirds whirring around the garden.
ReplyDeleteLovely gate and love the little tree frog ~

All the best to you, Lisa!

ReplyDeleteLisa you have totally amazed me (and made me laugh as well)
ReplyDeleteI would have thought the same thing .. You would never understand how jealous I am of you with having these sweet little frogs in your garden .. I would give anything to have them as well, and hear their songs in the evening ? Talk about music to the ears !
What on earth do I h ave to do to have them .. would you consider mailing me some ? LOL .. Can you imagine that .. hearing peeping coming from a little box in the mail system ? LOL
In any case .. I loved seeing this story .. I needed something sweet like this .. Thanks !

Oh how adorable!!! Do you still have your pet clump? <3
ReplyDeleteNo,sadly he went away during the night.
DeleteIn my Oklahoma garden, I occasionally see these darlings in a bloom or sunning themselves somewhere. I see the green frogs more often especially during daylily season. They love the open flowers. ~~Dee
ReplyDeleteHope you are having another lovely weekend in your garden ~
