Out of the Garden VII

This weekend the clouds kept rolling trough trying to bring us rain but the sun persisted so we were out and about some. Most of the passerine migrants have gone on through the area. We did have some shorebirds, Dunlin, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper and Glossy Ibis.
It was cool during the morning hours. Just great for birding and watching nature. This large snake crawled onto the gravel road to sun itself. It was trying to warm up. The Bald Eagle chick is getting quite large now. It won't be long and it will be out of the nest. We missed the cute fuzzy chick stages because of all the flooding this spring. The road that comes nearest to the nest has been flooded almost all spring.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

  3. Wow, what a big chick! I know now that you're not standing two feet away from the nest:) But this photo is still amazing.

  4. You are so fortunate to have the eagles! Thanks for the picture! It's neat to think that they are rebounding and being seen more widely.

  5. Oh that bald eagle Lisa what a priviledge to be so close. Such majestic birds.
Also the snake, I am a great lover of these misunderstood creatures.
A lovely experience, thank you for sharing it with us.

  6. I love when you take us for a walk with you. It gives me such a sense of your 'place', however, I could do without the snake :)

  7. Nice shots Lisa, the sky shot with the light coming through the clouds looks great and those Bald Eagles look huge.

  10. Thank you GG.

    You are welcome Jayne.

I was about a 1/4 mile away from the nest Rose. I took the picture through my scope. That is why the quality was so poor.

I do feel fortunate to be able to watch the nest of a Bald Eagle. You don't see them everywhere Joyce.

I too like snakes Cheryl. We don't see them often.

Yes Teri, as Cheryl pointed out snakes are misunderstood creatures.

    Thanks Mike.

I hated that we couldn't connect Beckie. Maybe next time. We had a pleasant weekend. Weather was great.

Hi Monarch. Glad you stopped by.
