Monday Bouquet - Black Beginnings

Happy Monday to everyone. Today I was inspired by Linda showing her arrangements here  for What is in the Vase Monday meme.  In between showers I went to the garden and this is what developed.

I used a small Black Carnival Glass vase. With black in mind I used some stems from the Nine Bark 'Summer Wine' shrub. It turns an incredible dark almost black color this time of year. It makes a nice back drop for White anemones. The aster you see here is the Tall Wild Aster. I can't for the life of me think of what it's botanic name is, but you know the one I mean. The red and green frilly leaf is a big-leaf Begonia that I don't even know the name. I don't think it came with a tag several years ago when I bought it. It just had those huge curly-edged leaves.
Do you have any flowers in a vase that you can share today?
To see more filled vases go to Rambling In The Garden.

  1. Pretty arrangement, Lisa. I just love seeing the Japanese Anemones in bloom this time of year. I should go pick some flowers before they all blow away:) Love your new profile photo with Annie; I hope to meet her one day.

  4. A lovely vase of flowers indeed. Glad you pick them between the showers--way too much rain today. The black vase is a perfect backdrop for the purple and white. Stay dry!

  6. I love that you did a vase, too! So nice to be able to bring the few good things indoors and make it seem like the garden is full and blooming instead of waning.

  7. I adore posts on bouquets and always like to see what other people put together. You've got an intriguing mix of plants. Love the anemones against those dark leaves. Sadly I've been neglecting my bouquets lately, I haven't put one together in months. Soon though I'll gather some dried hydrangeas and maybe some grass heads to keep over the winter.

  8. Ooh, nice and exotic looking. Don't you just love black foliage. I did a cutting of late roses and dahlias, but I didn't post it on my blog. I did share it on FB though. ~~Dee
