Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - March 15, 2020

This GBBD is a blustery winters day. All the crocus, anemone nemorosa are all closed. There are a few hardier plants blooming.
The Pussy Willow is all furry now. It needs this fur coat in this weather. You can see behind it a few splashes of yellow.
In this bed there are some old fashioned daffodils and the Tete Tete mini daffs are blooming their little heads off.
They Tete Tetes are bowing to the cold weather today. As are the crocus that refuse to open on such a sunless windy day.
Then there are the usual suspects. Hellebores are showing their stuff. I have several different colors here.
Some have the sweetest little freckles.
Snowdrops are still blooming but I won't bore you since I have written about them so much this winter.
If you are craving more colorful and more blooms ? pop over to Carol's May Dreams Garden for looks at blooms from all over the world.
Happy Garden Bloggers Bloom Day!

  1. Middle of the month already! The Ides of March. We have a cold wind here too that is discouraging me from wanting to go outside and grab some sunshine when it isn't peeking from behind an occasional cloud.
    Much the same blooms here.

  4. It may be cold but it's starting to look like spring. How exciting! I hope the real cold weather stays north of us, but I don't mind some slightly cooler weather to slow things down. Plus digging is slightly less painful when the weather is still cool... as long as there's no nasty wind!
I saw your snowdrops! They look excellent and I hope they keep multiplying. I spent some time yesterday dividing, and the bunches are starting to look like something. It only took a little more than a decade lol

    1. This has been my best year for the snowdrops. I think because it was such a mild winter and my originals have been in the ground for a long time. I didn't know until a couple of years ago that you could divide them. Ha... we live and learn.

  5. I'd say Spring has arrived, Lisa! I absolutely adore pussywillows, something that's on the long list of plants I wish I could grow here. I even had a cat named Pussywillow when I was a kid (although my brother is actually at fault for naming her - calling her home was always a challenge).

  6. It was cold and windy here today but I'm looking forward to warmer temps later in the week. Hope you get them too. I love 'Tete a Tete', I think it may be my favorite daffodil.

  7. I'm sure your flowers like your cold weather, they go over too quickly when it warms up.Your daffodils and hellebores are lovely and show that spring is really not very far away.

  8. Those little daffs are adorable, (such a beautiful pure yellow) as are the freckled Hellebore flowers. Without real winter chill we can only grow the plainer ones.

  11. Your Pussy Willow catkins are looking so nice and fluffy and the Daffodils are so sweet. We got a cold day here too yesterday, but tomorrow it's going back up to the upper 50's!!!

  12. Lisa - your daffodils are just lovely...you are a bit further along than we are here but looking at your beautiful posies makes me excited about what is coming. Grew my first Hellebore this year - daily checking to see if it has opened up. In my 40 years of gardening have never grown this flower before - so I am excited to see it bloom. Take care friend - spring is on its way. Hugs!
