Meteorological Spring

I don't think I could have expected a more beautiful beginning to March and Meteorological Spring if I could dial up the perfect day. A bit of a dialed down the wind speed would have been more pleasant but I am not complaining about such a beginning of the Meteorological Spring. When I stepped out I had to hold on to my hat. It was well worth the effort for the sun brought out the first crocuses.
The dark and the light yellow Crocuses seem to be the first to really pop.
They seem to be so short this year starting out. Do they do this every year but this the first year I have noticed?? Surely not.
The only bit of in purple/blue this early on in the garden seems to be the above crocus.
Speaking of my latest mania, that is Primrose Warburg Galanthus.
She responded well to the sunshine. Oh be still my heart. I can hardly wait until I have a whole clump of these beauties.
Other shots of color in the garden now is the never failing clump of G. Nivalis.
The Hellebores are quite perky in the sun too.
Even if some are spotty.
With the rain today even the moss is beginning to show a bit of shine.
I hope your garden is beginning to green up. It won't be as long as it has been.
Happy Meteorological Spring!

  1. I'm glad you're welcoming Spring with a bang, Lisa! I'd have been happier if Meteorological Spring had been ushered in here by the rain that was predicted for last night but sadly that was not the case.

  2. I was not aware of meteorological spring, but, yes, spring is showing up here with daffodils and pretty pink flowering plums and all kinds of plants beginning to pop up and out.

  3. Green yes, dry no. I wish our rain would move on to where it is needed. Other than the flowers in the garden, it doesn’t feel like spring here.

  4. Your first flowers brighten the garden, Lisa. Very nice!
My garden is green because there is no snow this winter :-) but the soil is frozen, nights are cold.
    Happy Meteorological Spring!

  6. Greening up very slowly although it has been a fairly mild winter with arctic blasts here and there. Good to see you are still blogging. So many of my favorite bloggers are no longer writing.

  7. Dear Lisa your garden is looking like spring has arrived. I am showing signs but due to some renovations my garden is needing reworked in spots...had to have a new water well drilled in January and in digging up the water lines...lost lots of my spring blooming bulbs :(! So will be busy replanting and hoping to uncover and save some once the weather gets warmer. Love seeing your flowers friend. Take care and have a lovely day. Hugs!

  11. Those Galanthus are exquisite. I hope you end up with many beautiful clumps.

And now I know what meteorological spring is, because your post prompted me to look it up!

  12. You're way ahead of me. We just have some of the Snowdrops. Not a huge fan of fancy Snowdrops, but that 'Primrose Warburg' is a winner. I tried to some clean up in the garden today but it was barely above freezing. The weekend is supposed to be warmer.
