Headed for Texas

We are gonna have a good time. It is vacation time for Greenbow inhabitants. We are headed for the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Lots of good birds down in that neck of the world. Of course I will be looking out for any and all interesting botanical subjects.
As I have written before I keepGarden journals of all sorts. I could do a whole post about travel journals too. I have kept several travel journals over the years too. Here I have the journal to keep track of our current trip. I have embellished it with a cover and some drawings. I hope to have all sorts of interesting tidbits to share with you on our return. It will be exciting to see what all has sprung in the garden as spring will be more to the fore when we return.
I am not sure how much I can read or post while away. I will see you as soon as possible though. Look out Texas here we come.We are lucky that our house sitter loves Luna about as much as we do. However Luna isn't sure she is so happy about all this packing that has gone on. It will be her job to protect the house and garden from the various pests that want to take over her little world. Including these voracious squirrels...

And the neighbor's cat that sits under the bird feeders talking about what it would like to have for breakfast. We all know what that might be.See you soon...

Feeder Count

Now I wonder why there aren't any birds at the feeder today. I was wanting to count them. It must be the wind. We are having a wind advisory today. Yes, the wind must be the problem.
This is the only cat that I have invited into my garden. Pussy Willow is the best kitty outside. It doesn't frighten or worse yet KILL the birds in our garden. It just sits there looking all come hither with its fuzzy wuzzy showing.

Black Panther

It was a beautiful sunny if cold morning. We were sitting at the table having breakfast when I noticed that there were no birds at the feeder. No birds seemed to be in the garden at all. On such a cold day this is unusual. I decided to get up and look outside to see what predator might be in the trees. Well, I was surprised to find a big black panther, errrr cat, at the water feature.I have never seen this cat actually drinking out of the feature but I knew it must. Most of the critters that pass through here do or else the water wouldn't disappear so quickly. I thought she was going to mosey away. But no she was just changing positions on the rocks. Kind of like butterflies do to warm themselves. I can just hear her " aaah this feels good on my toes and tummy."Hmmmm...could there be a moth or other insect for me to have a little snack?? No...What was that?? OOOoooo a little gray squirrel shaking its tail at me. Taunting me to come closer...Ok little gray squirrel. Here I am. I've done my part. I've come closer. Now its your turn. Come to kitty...Alright you scardy squirrel. I will make it easier for you... Now that isn't fair. You keep going up up higher into the tree.

I am just not going to play with you any more.

I will just sit here and admire the birds. Come to kitty sweeet little birdies...

New Blogger, Old Blogger

All I can say it is difficult to deal with change. This new Blogger format is not as user friendly in my opinion. I guess I will get us...
