Rabbits are out and about

On our little walk about the garden yesterday (wednesday) morning after the snow Luna did fence patrol while I followed rabbit tracks around the garden. I was wondering what the rabbits were finding for food in our garden this time of year.
Unfotunately for them, fortunate for us and our plants, I didn't find any evidence of nibbling. I could track the rabbit all around the garden though. It is intersting that it stayed on the regular paths for the most part. I could see where it would go into its favorite bushes where it likes to hide from us when we come outside.I could also see where it cut through one flower bed right over the top of the big rock where the lizard usually sits. The lizard must have gotten cold and moved to a warmer place. Here you can also see that Luna was tracking the rabbit. Her footprint goes right over the rabbit print on the rock.

You can see right where this rabbit departed from the garden. In one side out the other. The cats have been checking out the bird feeder right out my window too. They have been quite active in the garden. I wish they would go eslewhere to hunt. It doesn't seem fair to feed the birds just to have the neighborhood cats take them.

Luna's retort

Whilst my Mom thought I was sleeping too much yesterday just because a rascally rabbit was in the garden eating things. She knows that when I am up I show no mercy for the rabbits, squirrels and cats. Why look at me now. I just chased four squirrels and the neighbors cat out of the garden plus I have that pesky rabbit cornered in the stick pile. It won't be so la dee da about showing its face today.

Besides if you saw my Mom right now you would think she was the foolish one. She is outside while there is a dusting of snow on the ground looking for blooms for Carols Garden Bloggers Bloom Day tomorrow. Even I know there won't be anything in this garden blooming despite what Kylee posted on her blog. After all, a girl needs her beauty sleep.

Wrabbit Harrassing

No I haven't been harrassing the rabbit. It has been harrassing me. I think this innocent looking creature was tormenting me this weekend. At one point I looked out the window and there it was nibbling on a autumn clematis vine. I asked my DB to take its picture doing this and by the time he got his camera it had moved to pose in this innocent posture. Then, the rotten rodent, I mean rabbit took a bite of the Autumn fern that is directly behind it. To add insult to injury the rabbit didn't even eat the piece it bit off. It looked directly into the window at me as if to say "ha ha you can't catch me!" I started pounding on the window and it decided it better go before I came through the window. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr What is the dog doing when you need her??? Sleeping.
