Snow Caps

We went from the watery world of spring rains to Winters Mix of snow and sleet. Then we woke to snow capped objects in the garden today.

Doesn't Ole Man Winter realize that we are ready for Easter bonnets, not snow caps?? He isn't much of a fashion monger.
I hope that this is the last snow report that I have to issue. However March being as fickle as it can be I have built snowmen in mid March. It will be intersting to see how spring plays out this year. No more freezes please. Ok, I have put in my order how about you?
I often wonder how plants survive in the watery corner of our garden. I planted a Rodgersia Pinnata in this corner last summer and of course we had the driest ever. Rodgersia is supposed to thrive in wet places. I watered until I was sick of doing so. It hung on as far as my eye could see. I will be anxious to see if it pops up this spring.

  1. Your ornaments look pretty with their snow caps, but not springy like you would wish. The crocus are so brave with their snow covering. Let's hope this soon is over, we are forecast to get snow this weekend here in TN! Yuck!

  2. Nothing worse than a storm in spring or what is supposed to be spring. But it gave you some beauty in apology.

  3. Oh Lisa, I'm with you! At least the water table is being replinished! Enjoy your day.

  4. Lisa, I'm sure it isn't much consolation but your ornaments surely do make a pretty photo with their caps of ice on top. I like your idea of trading them for Easter bonnets this time of year. It's strange how this time of year the weather is almost even more unpredictable than others.

  5. I've been looking out this morning trying to focus on the glistening ice, beautiful in its own right, and enjoying the extra birds. Your beautiful snow capped pictures just add to the forced pleasure.

  6. One year we had tornados early in March, and no sign of winter after that. I'm not wishing for tornados, but I really do think winter has outstayed it's welcome.

    Your garden ornament is pretty!

  7. Dear Lisa,
I am glad you were not covered in ice! Snowcaps in March do melt faster than those in January! Yours are very pretty.
I also am ready for warmer temperatures. Cold and flurries for this afternoon at my house.
My crocuses are up about 1 inch! They have been that way for a week now. I do not even see leaf buds yet.
I know March can be warm or cold or both. Easter should not be allowed in March! I am celebrating in April this year.
Stay warm, spring will come soon.

  8. It just seems so hard to believe you still have snow.
Love your garden ornaments and the snow does compliment them well.

  9. I'm so disappointed - I thought this post was going to be about chocolate candy! ;^) The bear gazing globe stand is just too cute. And don't even get me started about those years when I had to wear snow boots with my Easter dress. UGG!

  12. Hi Lisa,
I feel so bad for your poor little crocuses covered with snow. I sincerely hope this is the last snow for you too!

  13. I'm ready for Easter bonnets too even though I've had no snow caps this year so far. We did have some sleet and hail earlier this week but that is to be expected as it is only March.

Wishing lots of sunny and warmer weather soon!

  14. Lisa: That first picture looks just like my garden did yesterday! Today, sunny and promising 50's. Maybe a little raking this afternoon!

  16. Snow caps on, snow caps off....this was the way our garden showed this week. I also hope very much that it was the last snow intermezzo this year...but I doubt. We often have some weather surprises in April....
