Happy Independence Day

As we are getting ready to go to a picnic party today, it has started raining. That is ok. It is supposed to stop by the time that we are to be there. Keep your fingers crossed for us, as I will be hoping taht you all are having a fun day.
I can remember the days when I worked at a hospital, especially during the early years, I had to work about every holiday. When your work schedule is like this for some years and then eventually you get to be off work for the holidays it is really a treat. In my garden I have a spot or two of some red white and blue. All in varying hues of course but I thought I would share them with you.
This combo is another that is a happy accident as far as the red white and blue is concerned.
Now this combo is actually what I tried to do. The red monarda and the blue phlox is cooperating but...

the white snowball bush that is supposed to be blooming right now is a little behind schedule. Oh well I think I can find a red, white and blue flower combo from the garden to take for picnic decoration. Happy day to all.

  1. You have some good groups that have red, white, and blue. Too bad the snowball bush wasn't ready this year. Hope you have a great picnic.

  6. Happy 4th of July :)
white butterfly bush looks so great.
I had one, but I got rid of it - browning flowers were getting on my nerves. Today I regret I said goodbye to it :(

  12. I want to thank everyone for stopping in this holiday weekend. We did have a good day. The coolest I ever remember. It misted off and on but otherwise was a fun day. The little children go in the pool despite the cool temps. We adults sat under tents, ate drank and visited.

Nan, the snowball bush is a type of viburnum I think. It was a pass along plant so I am not sure. I just call it a snowball bush because it has white round blooms that look like hydrangeas. So who knows??

  13. I liked your flower combinations. They looked so full and lush. Hope your picnic was fun. We had a beautiful day here. I had to work from 4-7. But that gave us plenty of time to get to the fireworks. I hope you got to see some sparklies!

  15. Is that Gooseneck Lysimachia with the hostas, Lisa? I've seen it in catalogs and photos but never knew anyone who grew it.
With all the reddish and bluish -purple Salvias planted in my garden, R/W/B combos appear like magic here, too ;-]
