Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - September 2009

I have the typical fall flowers giving their all right now. The older toad lilies are blooming and the Japanese Aneomones are blooming up a storm.
Yellow Mum
Amazingly the Niko Blue Hydrangea is having another blooming spell.
The Carpet Rose is giving one last bloom or two.  I think if it would rain I would have more blooms.

This rudi of some sort died back to the ground when it got so dry here.  I cut down what didn't die down and now it is having another little blooming spell.
The annuals are all at their peak.  It is lovely now that the heat of the day isn't so hot.  If you want to see more blooms go to Carols for the full list of GBBD posters.

  5. Oooh... I love your 'Nikko Blue' hydrangea. And I envy you for having had any hot days this year--in Cleveland, it feels like summer completely passed us by. :(

  6. Beautiful blooms Lisa! I love the anemones, and Nikko Blue is just gorgeous.

I hope you get some rain soon. After the wettest spring on record here, it's bone dry except for a couple of good rains in August. Looks like I'll have to break down and water here soon.

  9. Yours is about the fifth post featuring some fall anemones, Lisa; this makes me want to go out and buy some for next year! I do envy you that blue hydrangea--do you add anything to it to keep it blue? I always forget and wind up with pink blooms, or at best, lavender:)
Glad to see you back, Lisa! I've missed you this past week.

  13. Ruthie, I only water when I have to. Lately it has been a couple of times per week. We haven't had more than a half inch of rain since the middle of August. The ground is cracking. UGH... It gets like this a lot of the time during the end of summer.

Rose, I always want to add supplements to the blues but I don't usually get it done. These Nikos are planted where there used to be pine trees. I guess the pines put lots of acid into the ground with their pine needles.

  18. Lisa, I am such a mum lover-yours are beautiful. And after seeing your toadlily last year, I planted one. It's finally blooming too!

You sound as dry as we are. In fact I watered all my beds for the first time this year.

Glad you made it back and got to post. Hope you and DB are doing okay.
