Sky Watch Friday - Ex marks the spot

Early one morning this week we were out walking enjoying the beautiful blue skies.  It was chilly despite the sunshine. The clouds looked to be gettingblown apart by the wind.

What really brought my eye to the sky were all the contrails.  Not just that the conditions were just right to show them but all the air traffic that was emphasized by the Xs in the sky.

I mean they seemed to be everywhere.

I had just seen on tv that airlines were charging for every little thing we used to take for granted when flying.  I had just thought that maybe all of these fees would be their undoing.
It doesn't appear to these skies that the added fees are lessening air travel even though added fees seems like a double cross to me.

If I looke here I saw an X.

If I looked over there I saw an X.

I saw a fancy curyly X over here.

No, I don't think all those eXtra fees are having any affect on peoples travel plans. If you are flying some place fun and exciting this weekend  I hope you all have a great weekend and you don't have any double crosses. To view more sky photos go to Sky Watch Friday here.

  4. I remember a day like that here. The sky seemed literally FULL of them! I wondered if there were just a bunch of confused controllers that day... lol! Have a great weekend Lisa. :c)

  5. So glad to see you have sunny skies.

Those contrails always look like the aimless wandering of planes. Where in the world are they going.

  7. Lisa, I remember seeing one of these crosses late last spring, perfect for an ABC X post. But you have hit the jackpot! Yes, I've heard about all the extra fees; I may be driving to Phoenix or Portland on my next trip...on second thought, no I won't:)

  11. We don't see them as often as we used to; they must have changed the flight patterns to the Indy airport. The sky used to be filled with contrails, but I don't recall seeing x's.

  13. We sure don't like flying ... such a hassle! ... no, not like the old days at all.

  14. Julie, no, we don't live anywhere near a big airport that flies jets unless 60 miles awaw is close. That is why I was so surprised to see so many contrails that morning.

  15. Your contrails across that goregeous big blue sky are perfect! Occasionally we see the x's and I wonder what in the heck is making them stay in place so long. No trips planned this weekend but we did have a house full of company! Hope your weekend was fun. gail

  19. So that's what blue sky looks like. I enjoyed your post, Lisa. If the airlines had to depend on people like me, they wouldn't be able to make a single "X".
