Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - January 2013

Last January (2012) I didn't have anything to report as far as blooms go. This year I am happy to say I can at least report that my indoor plants are still blooming. The small Orchid, and Begonias are keeping gardening thoughts alive here.

Outside is a completely different matter. It is cold. I didn't expect to find anything blooming. I did find one pansy that appears to have been frozen in place.
I also found that there is a lot of promise in the garden. Hellebores are setting buds.

As are the honeysuckle,
and the snowdrops.
The daffodils have pushed their strappy leaves out of the soil about two inches. It just makes you wish and hope for some of those warmer winter days and early spring flowers.
For those of you that don't have much blooming in your garden and those that want to see blooms from around the world see quite the show at Carol's May Dreams Garden

Your indoor plants are beautiful and isn't it exciting that in a few weeks the hellebores are going to be awake and gorgeous.

Even your outdoor plants are prepared for spring. I can't wait, but I hope we get rain. We are so dry the ponds are gone, and they lakes are below safe levels. I so enjoy seeing everyone's snowdrops. They are one I can't grow. Maybe I'll force some next year.~~Dee

Gosh, your orchid is beautiful! And blooms outside--I'm so jealous! It must be all that snow you got--it kept them cozy and warm, while my poor babies are shivering without a coat:)

The orchids are beautiful. Hard to imagine the honeysuckle is getting ready to bloom. Crazy winter.

What lovely little buds on the hellebores & the snowdrop, Lisa. Does it seem odd to be halfway through January and still have flowers in the garden?

Happy January GBBD,

It will be a while before we see any blooms pushing forth up here! (We haven't even begun to melt out). Not even my inside African violets are blooming.

I love snow drops, they don't do well here, but maybe I.ll try again.
Anyway, thanks for my dose of snow drops:-)

Lisa girl how are you !
I can't believe you have flower buds there .. is that normal this time of year ? .. we are having such freaky weather I am very worried about what kind of Spring we are going to have.
Today it is warm and very windy .. but next we are going back into the deep freeze with no snow as protection for the garden .. not a good scenario at all.
I did love seeing your flowers and "buds" though girl .. thanks !

Hi Lisa! Gorgeous blossoms!!!

I have never seen this pastel pink yellow orchid before in Malaysia!

Only my late mum invest time into gardening previously. And especially taking acre the Orchids.

Now, it's my turn but I don't have any Orchid. I am inspired by you. I hope to continue my late mums passion to make my garden look good with Orcids too!

Loved the orchids Lisa, they can give months of pleasure can't they. Great to see buds outside - wonder if they have all opened since. My hellebores are sleeping under a duvet of snow this morning :-D

Lisa girl I had to stop by again and comment on seeing the sun rise earlier !!!!!!
The time is shifting even if it seems so long .. mornings make a huge difference for me when the light is earlier and bright .. starts my engine up ? almost ? LOL

I love snow drops! Speaking of, I don't know why, but I expected you to be under a blanket of white for some reason.

You seem to have a green finger with regard to your indoor gardening! They look so pretty! And your garden already shows the first Spring harbingers. Though we actually still have a lot of snow here, I think we won't have to wait too long for real Spring.
Have a good time,
Barbara
