Snow melt
The only snowballs that are being tossed around in the yard today are the dried up hydrangea blooms. The snow is gone. It was fun while it lasted.
Even this little microclimate along the fence has melted away today. After all it was 66F. It was delightful to be able to throw open the patio doors and let some fresh air into the house.
When I walked around I was delighted to see that the snow drops were taking advantage of being released from its prison of snow. They were trying their best to throw those blooms up into the air. It is to be as warm tomorrow so they will probably sporting a full bloom.
Even the magnolia has its little fuzzy blooms ready for action. I hope they don't bolt too soon. It will get cold again. That is a promise. After all it is only the first part of February.

Blue Skies and Sunshine
It was a gorgeous winter day. We started out by taking Luna to the park for a nice long walk. The Wabash is still rising. It is supposed to crest wednesday. When it is like this our little creek is about full to overflowing in some places. We have nice little bridges to traverse most wet areas.
The last time we were here there were oodles of mushrooms and fungus to take pictures of, today nothing. You can see the beautiful blue skies reflected in the muddy creek. There were some ferns growing in the rock outcroppings. I am always amazed at the tenacity of these ferns. I do think there are fewer ferns this winter. I think that the drought was hard on them this past summer.
When we returned home we couldn't just go inside. Some of us lay down in a path to rest while the rest of us picked up sticks and pulled a few weeds. "Aww Mom it is a rough job keeping an eye on you and Dad. You know I don't like for you to take my picture. Geez can't a girl rest?"
As Carol mentioned that her crocus was so happy I thought I would show you my happy Snowdrops. You can see their pretty little green white edged bells that they keep tucked in the white petals until it is warm and blowsy. They have their little blossoms open wide hoping for a pollinator. The only thing out is the wind. I hope it does the job. I want to move these little fellows around in the garden.

All I can say it is difficult to deal with change. This new Blogger format is not as user friendly in my opinion. I guess I will get us...
