Walk at the park

We had to take a short break from all the work in the garden to take our little girl to the park for a walk. It is amazing how the forest floor comes alive at this time of year. It seems like it took a few short days to get here. This path was literally lined with Rue Anomenoes. Just beautiful.
Here we found a sea of May Apples.

Jack in the pulpit were up and preaching.
Larkspur were popping up all over the place, as were the blue phlox. Just beautiful.
Have a great weekend.

  1. Lisa, is the park very close to your house? You seem to get to go there quite a bit, so I wondered.~~Dee

  3. Hi Dee, the park is just a 4 mile (or so) drive from our house. It is easy to get to. We live in a small community. We go there a lot during fall winter and spring. During summer it is too hot and too many people there.

Hi Arythrina, it is Ouabache Trails Park.

  4. Lovely tour through an exquisite natural garden. The mayapples are too cute for words, as is the preaching jack-in-a-pulpit! Thanks for sharing this little piece of heaven.

  12. I enjoyed this trip through your park, especially since you identified all the wildflowers for me. I'm sure Luna enjoyed it, too.
I thought I left a comment on your post yesterday, but I probably forgot to hit "publish"! Just wanted to add my compliments on your new fence; it gives your yard a cottage-garden look.

  13. Lovely park Lisa! So many wonderful wildflowers there.

I tried, and lost woodland phlox in a previous garden. It didn't survive the first summer Considering my high plant failure rate in this garden, I don't what possessed me to try it here, but now I'm happy I did.

Last year it didn't do much, and from the looks of things earlier this spring, I thought it had died over the winter. But all 6 plants have sprung to life, and 3 of them are spreading. No flower buds yet, but I think it's going to bloom this spring. Yippee!
